For the first time since Parachute 08, Switchfoot will return to New Zealand to front the country’s largest four-day music festival - The Parachute Music Festival. The San Diego surfer-turned-musicians have double-platinum albums featuring singles Meant To Live, Dare You To Move and Stars – plus their music is showcased on Hollywood movies such as The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and A Walk To Remember.
Parachute will also host headliners Underoath (US) and Hillsong United (Aus). Grammy-nominated metalcore band Underoath hails from Florida but has a groundswell following worldwide, and is currently unleashing its sound on the Warped Tour. Hillsong United is a Festival favourite and has become a force in global worship music – touring extensively across the continents from its Sydney church-base with a #1 Billboard Top Christian Album. With all headliners announced, this festival which will mark a 20th birthday celebration is shaping up to be the biggest Festival ever, celebrating two decades of seriously good music.
International headliners are: Switchfoot, Underoath, Hillsong United, Leeland (US), Family Force 5 (US), NewWorldSon (Can) and Falling Up (US);
local acts include Parachute Band and Rapture Ruckus.Soul Survivor Founder Mike Pilavachi (UK), Planetshakers University Pastor Matt Fielder (Aus) and LIFE Pastor Paulde Jong (NZ) are also signed up to be key speakers at the festival.
Parachute 2010 will be held on January 29 till February 1 at Hamilton’s Mystery Creek.
